METHOD OF FEEDING AND PRECISE STOPPAGE OF FULL-LENGTH LOGS IN CROSS-CUTTING MACHINES AND DEVICE FOR ITS REALIZATION Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: timber processing industry. SUBSTANCE: full-length logs are accelerated in two stages, first up to the low speed and then from the low speed to the high speed, retarded, moved to the stop position with adjustment of low speeds in hydraulic actuator. Variation of moving moment in electric drive with motor 9 and reduction gear 8 and variation of pressure in hydraulic system of hydraulic motor 10 is performed by means of relief valve 44. The moving moment is transmitted from them via kinematic trains (8, 17, 18, 19) with different transmission ratios to main and additional low- and high-speed tractive members 5, 11, 12 and 4. All cyclic feed operations are performed at joint operation of the hydraulic actuator and the electrical drive provided with electric motor 9 and hydraulic motor 10. At the initial acceleration stage, when movement is performed at low speed, the operator increases transmission ratio of kinematic train 8 from the hydraulic actuator and electric drive to low-speed roller 5. The actuating moment of hydraulic motor 10 is then increased by increasing pressure in its hydraulic system by means of valve and the actuating moment of the electric drive is decreased by switching off starters in its rotor circuit. At the second stage of acceleration characterized by high speed of full-length logs, the transmission ratio of kinematic chain 18 to the main tractive member - additional high-speed roller becomes decreased, the actuating moment of hydraulic motor 10 becomes also decreased by decreasing pressure in its hydraulic system by means of valve and the actuating moment of the electric drive becomes increased by switching on the starter in the rotor circuits of motor 9.
