FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: plain bearing shell has internal and external layers. Mounted without clearance in segment-like space in loaded zone of external layer is hollow insert accommodating in its lower portion a tab made in the form of closed curve and seated there with guaranteed clearance. When plain bearing is loaded contact pressures in the shell material will be redistributed due to difference in strength and resilience properties of inner layer, internal insert, tab and external layer through displacement of hollow insert material on curvilinear sections by tab, when its halves turn towards each other, and by lowering level of maximum pressures in curvilinear section due to guaranteed clearance between tab and hollow insert.
