FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: in the terry loom comprising looping mechanism, ground warp regulator which has supporting shaft and backrest installed via supports on said supporting shaft with a provision for being turned about the axis of said shaft by the warp tensioning spring which is connected by lever with supporting shaft, and lever connected with ground warp thread feeding mechanism, the warp regulator has additionally a planetary transmission. Central wheel of said transmission is rigidly linked with fulcrum of supporting shaft, epicycle is connected with cam-type drive of backrest while carrier is rigidly linked with lever which latter is connected with ground warp thread feeding mechanism. Introduction of planetary transmission into warp regulator ensures minimum swinging amplitude of lever connected with ground warp thread feeding mechanism which provides for constant tensioning of ground warp threads when switching over from plain stitch to terry operating mode and vice versa.
