FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: knurling is carried out by knurling tools, that have planetary and axial movement in relation to a blank. Planetary movement of knurling tools is exercised due to rotation of magnetic field with magnetic induction value B, that is changing in limits of B = 0.1. . . 1.0 T. D·t value is chosen equalled D·t = 0.2 . . . 5.0 / 103mm 2 , with D - blank outer diameter in mm, t - blank thickness in mm. Under magnetic field influence change of direction of thermal flux movement takes place. The thermal flux is moving from tools towards blank and so it is conditioning decrease of heating of knurling tools and increase of temperature of the blank local surface heating.
