FIELD: powder metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: ceramic material charge included silicon nitride, boron nitride (10 to 60 percent by mass) and yttrium oxide introduced into charge as part of ultra-dispersible plasmochemical composition (silicon nitride - yttrium oxide: 40 to 90 percent by mass). Distinguishing trait of novel method resided in that ceramic material charge containing boron nitride involved ultradispersible powdery composition (silicon nitride plus yttrium oxide) that allowed formation of fine-grained structure composed of intertwined hexagonal silicon nitride and difficultly diffusible intergrain phase. This microstructure ensured excellent strength characteristics of material and desired hardness. Examination revealed no chemical interaction between particles of boron nitride and matrix material.
