GEAR FOR FIELD TEST OF ROCKS Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: rock strength tests in borehole. SUBSTANCE: gear for field test of rocks has cylindrical body 1 housing punch 7, rack 8, link 9, gear wheel 3, rod 4 kinematically coupled to gear wheel 3 with the aid of supplementary wheel 12 and gearing 13. Link 9 connects rack 8 with gear wheel 3 and punch 7 is put on rack 8 uniaxially. Electromagnetic locating arms 10, 11 of turn of link 9 with reference to body and gear wheel 3 are installed in body. Weight 5 moves on rod 4, spring 6 couples weight with rod. For static loading test gear is provided with screw drive 14 for movement of rod 4. In case of movement of rod 4 under action of weight 5 gear wheel 3 either moves rack 8 and punch 7 in axial direction if locating arm 10 is switched on or accomplishes turns of rack 8 if locating arm 11 is switched on.
