FIELD: electrical instrumentation engineering. SUBSTANCE: with the aim of testing protective properties of a shielding outfit the use made of a model provided with electric field pickups, the conductance of which approximates that of a human body; the model is introduced into an electric field, in turn being dressed in the shielding outfit and without it; the coefficient of reduction of the electric field on the model surface is determined from the data obtained by measuring pickup signals; the model is introduced into the electric field by placing it on one of capacitor plates, the size of the plate being larger than that of the model. When the model is tested without the shielding outfit, the model is electrically connected to the plate; when model is tested dressed in the shielding outfit, the outfit is electrically connected to the plate; measurements are taken of pickup signals when the model presents in turn the face and the back to the plate; measurements are taken again following the exchange of connections of the capacitor plates with a power source. EFFECT: enhanced test accuracy, reduced test cost.
