FIELD: heating furnaces. SUBSTANCE: device comprises stationary rack 1 and transport means in the form of walking beams 2 whose working surface under loaded pile 3 has shaped cutout. Arranged above rack 1 is stationary stop 4 with U-shaped opening whose height is larger than the thickest slab δmax but smaller than two thinnest slabs δmin. Walking beams have mechanisms for vertical and horizontal displacement. Shaped cutout is a continuation of their working surface and is formed by lower horizontal surface located under rack 1 in any position, merging into vertical surface raised above the rack with the walking beams lifted by the thickness of the thinnest slab δmin by inclined surface whose height is determined by the difference of thicknesses between the thickest δmax and thinnest δmin slabs and the upper horizontal surface.
