FIELD: automatic control systems. SUBSTANCE: output signal of controlled object is measured, and control action is may be periodically changed discretely according to results of measurement. The first and the second constant test actions are applied to object under control, and after alternate output of the object is carried out to corresponding steady modes, values of output signal are indicated. Then the average value is determined from these values, and the first test action is applied at preset moment of time. After that output signal is inspected and moment, when signal becomes equal to predetermined average value, is registered. As a period of change in control action the value is chosen, being equal or larger than difference between fixed and preset moments of time. When object is subjected to the second steady mode, monotonicity of change in output signal is controlled. If it is disturbed, the process may be repeated by taking the second test action as the first new one. EFFECT: improved quality of control. 2 cl, 2 dwg
