FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: tool has two heads with working surfaces, that have entering part with grooves of trapezoidal form. Depth of the grooves is increasing in direction of ingot movement. Heads also have intermediate and output sections. Intermediate sections of the heads working surfaces are made with grooves of trapezoidal cross-section with depth slowly decreasing to zero in direction of ingots movement. Output sections of the heads are made horizontal. Length dimensions of intermediate and output working surfaces of the heads in direction of ingot movement are correspondingly equaled to (0.5 - 0.8) and (1.0 - 1.5) from length of their entering part. Angle between intermediate sections working surfaces of the heads in direction of ingot movement is 30 - 60 deg. Entering part of working surface of one of the heads is made in direction of ingot movement with ratio of its length to length of the entering part of working surface of the other head as 1.1 - 1.3. During ingot reduction with entering part of heads significant shifting deformations of one direction appear in metal, sign of which changes during following reduction with intermediate heads. The procedure increases uniformity of processing of ingot casting metal along its cross-section.
