FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: the product: tetraoctyl ammonium; the yield is 70%. Reagent 1: an about 0.1 M tetraoctyl ammonium bromide solution in methylene chloride. Reagent 2: 0.30-35% aqueous ammonium bifluoride solution. Reaction conditions: treatment followed by washing of the organic phase with a 10-12% aqueous ammonia solution containing 15-25% ammonium fluoride. EFFECT: improved properties of the resulting compound.
