FIELD: nondestructive methods for determination of corrosion resistance characteristics of materials undergoing fatigue failure. SUBSTANCE: method includes measurement of internal friction before and after testing for corrosion resistance on specimens of two types with different ratio of characteristic sizes D1 and D2 taken from condition 1.5≅ D1/D2≅ 2. Then, thickness of layer affected by corrosion is determined in specimens by variation of internal friction and also increment of internal friction in it. Corrosion resistance is determined by these parameters. In this case, test results do not depend on specimen geometric parameters and clearly characterize the conditions of material layer attached by corrosion. EFFECT: higher confidence in determination of material resistance to corrosion. 1 dwg
