FIELD: welding. SUBSTANCE: method involves making a sample and applying a longitudinal welded seam accompanied by loading the sample with tensile stress. The speed of welding and rate of deformation of the sample by outside forces are maintained continuous. The rate of variations in deformation is measured. The distance from a point at the sample constituting equality between the rate of deformation and speed of movement of the sample to the point of crack formation is taken as the criterion of resistance to hot cracking.
