METHOD OF PREPARING FRUITS FOR TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE AND CONTAINER FOR REALIZATION THEREOF Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: food industry; storage and transportation of fresh fruits and vegetables. SUBSTANCE: method involves loading fruits into a container, isolating them with porous materials, packing, transportation, removal of fruits and porous material from container, separation of fruits from porous material, and repeated utilization of containers. Porous material is constituted by heat-insulating conservant poured in between the fruits in the container so as to make a monolithic mass. Container is used immediately after transportation and removal of monolithic product which is stored as monolith to be disintegrated before use. Heat-insulating conservant is solution of foam clay prepared by treating 15-30-% of clay solution with 5-10 % of glycerine from the weight of solution, 0.5-1 % salt; 0.1- 0.5 % benzoic acid; 1-2 % surfactant. The produced solution is mixed with porous material (foam plastic) at the rate of 1:1-2 by volume. The container for preparing the fruits to transportation and storage comprises perforated outer enclosure with bottom and cover, made as a truncated pyramid, an elastic endless sheet installed above the bottom and stretched on removable rods with stops in shaped holes.
