FIELD: metallurgy, treatment of metals and alloys. SUBSTANCE: source of high energy density is used to heat an item surface concurrently with imposition of ultrasonic. Laser beam may be used as the source to heat it up to the temperatures not exceeding Ac1, and then the item is cooled. Specific stress state is formed in the zone of combined influence. The stress state enables to speed up all processes needing thermal activation for its development. EFFECT: improved properties of metals and alloys.
