METHOD OF SWITCHING THREE-PHASE CAPACITOR BANK Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: current transformers and five measuring voltage transformers are used in a control system; initial data of the above mentioned transformers are being fed to a microprocessor control system. In order to eliminate non-favorable switching of capacitors with an electric power network, pulses are being fed to gates of thyristor groups, beginning from the first thyristor of phase C, whose cathode is connected with the network, 30 degrees after transition of instantaneous value of a linear voltage BC from negative value to positive one; to gates of the first thyristor of phase A, whose cathode is connected with the network, such pulse train is being fed 90 degrees after the first thyristor of phase C had been turned on; the second thyristor is being turned on no less, than 180 degrees after the first thyristor of phase A had been turned on. The capacitor bank is being turned off from the network by simultaneously removing all control signals of gates of all thyristors.
