FIELD: railway transport; device to hold cars under repair at different distance from each other. SUBSTANCE: device has automatic couplers 1 mounted on car frame overhanging parts, intercar communication lines 2 and arrangement 3 to hold cars at distance from each other in case of repair. Arrangement has four brackets 6 secured on adjacent end faces of cars at two sides from automatic couplers, and rod 7 with hinge-mounted heads 18 engaging with brackets. Rod is made up of two telescopic sections of out-of-round outline. Fitted on free end faces of sections are eye plates one of which is hinge-mounted on end face of inner section 13 of rod for turning around its horizontal axis. Rigidly fitted on upper and lower surfaces of outer section 12 are upper and lower housings 24 and 25 for arrangement of detent. Housings are secured coaxially to holes made on inner and outer sections of rod. Stop 9 is hinge-connected on end face of outer section 12 for turning in vertical plane for engagement with detent when rod sections are extended. Detent is installed for moving along holes from one housing into the other to change positions of rod sections relative to each other. Length and inner cross sizes of housings are not less than corresponding sizes of detent whose length is not less than height of outer section. Slots for stop are made in lower housing.
