FIELD: timbering machines. SUBSTANCE: machine has beam 2 with gripping-cutting head 3, driven sawing unit 4, and a pulling mechanism. The latter is carriage 5 with grips 6. The machine is also provided with a system for measuring timber lengths. The system has length sensors mounted on the beam, and a controlling member mounted on the carriage. The length sensors are pairs of main member 10 and additional member 11. They are displaced relative to each other lengthwise the beam, and the additional member 11 controlling the variation in speed is located between the cutting head and the main sensor member. Member 12 of the sensors is located on the horizontal surface of the carriage for alternate engagement with one of the transmitting members of the sensors. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl, 3 dwg
