FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: pressure differential in high- and-low pressure lines is measured. Leakages are compensated for by working flow of constant-capacity make-up pump whose excessive flow runs to drain end. Then difference of temperatures of working fluid between flow of leakage and flow in low-pressure line is measured, after which rate is determined in one of flows which is combined with leakage flow and temperature before and after combining is checked for calculation of leakage flow rate and total and volumetric efficiency of hydraulic machine. Flow rate is determined in excessive flow of make-up pump which is combined with leakage flow whose rate is calculated on condition of thermal balance of flow fed to hydraulic machine and flow directed to drain end after combining with leakage flow.
