FIELD: textile production. SUBSTANCE: method involves the steps of: impregnating yarn by aqueous solution of dressing agent, treating it in in homogeneous steady magnetic field of intensity of 100-120 kA/m and intensity gradient of 1.0-1.2 kA/ m2, a movement speed in magnetic field being of 0.9-1.2 m/sec, drying the yarn on drying drums of a dressing machine. Magnetic treatment of the yarn is effected with the aid of an apparatus composed of two assemblies of permanent magnets, fixedly and movably mounted on a magnetic core. EFFECT: reduced breakage of cotton yarn with linear density of 29 tex and twist coefficient of 49 on looms by 33.3 %.
