FIELD: cleaning of railway ballast. SUBSTANCE: ballast cleaner consists of tractor, frame 2 mounted on which are cutter-thrower 15, screen 34, conveyor for discharging rubbish, levelling device 38 and compacting device 3. Cutter-thrower 15 consists of hollow shaft 19 with throwing blades 20 uniformly installed over helical line and consisting of two side posts with teeth and cutter wings. Installed between two side posts is middle post with tooth and cutter wings for interaction with flexible member secured to hollow shaft 19. Cutter wings are connected by means of chains to cutter wings of side posts to form net-like panel in whose front part side posts are connected with middle part by means of rope links whose length is shorter than that of chains.
