DEVICE FOR SORTING DATA Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

FIELD: automation and computer engineering. SUBSTANCE: device has input and output channels, two memory unit with stack architecture, comparison unit, memory unit, control unit, control unit of memory unit, counter, register, comparison unit, stacks, commutator, code generator, address bus generator. Device provides on-line sorting of data while they arrive. Sorted array is output in either ascending or descending order. New feature of the described device is separation of data into standard length constituents (characters). Process of data sorting runs along with information input. This results in possibility to simplify hardware, in particular decreased number of memory circuits for processing variable length data, as well as in possibility to decrease time of data sorting when slow external device is used.
