SUBSTANCE: step-by-step burning of fuel-air mixture in pulverized-coal fired boilers 1 equipped with furnaces with two and more tiers of burners 3 is provided by redistribution of fuel among the tiers of burners 3 with an increase of fuel supply to burners 3 of the lower tier until excess-air coefficient α = 0.7 is attained, and by supply of fuel-air mixture and secondary air from burners 3 of the lower tier to the furnace at an angle up to 15 deg upwards relative to the horizontal plane.
