FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method of forming of spiral-wound flexible friction members consists is multi-row winding of cable on sleeves installed on the mandrel base and spaced along the outline of the flexible friction member at a successive bending-around of sleeves in each row in the plane perpendicular to their axes, with subsequent removal of sleeves with cable wound on them from the mandrel. The mandrel base is made of flexible material, and forming of flexible friction member is accomplished with alternation of rows wound in the extreme compressed and extreme stretched positions of the mandrel.
