FIELD: tube production. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of placing a sliding current-supply lead on a tubular blank upon welding it in direction along its diameter, a width of the current supply lead being equal to a width of a gap between edges of the blank; displacing the current-supply lead relative to a welding arc in a direction of motion of the blank by a controllable value, being proportional to a thickness of a wall of the tubular blank. Such method allows to provide stable heating up and fusion of edges due to steady position of the welding arc. EFFECT: enhanced quality of welded tubes. 1 cl, 2 dwg
