FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: photoelectric displacement-to-number converter has photodetector of M+4 number tracks, each made in the form of alternating light-sensitive and light-insensitive sections; n pairs of number tracks are made in compliance with Gray code, four pairs of number tracks are identical to pair of number tracks of less significant bit of Gray code; tracks in each pair of number tracks are shifted relative to each other through quantum step of these tracks and separated by information electrode; track pairs are separated by power electrodes common for adjacent pairs; converter also has n main and six additional comparators, OR gate, and three EXCLUSIVE OR gates; in addition, it is provided with three comparators and three AND gates. Four pairs of number tracks are shifted in respect to pair of number tracks of less significant bit of Gray code and relative to each other through quarter the quantum step.
