FIELD: teaching aids. SUBSTANCE: teaching instrument for strength of materials has a base, to which a vertical flexible rod with a rectangular cross section is rigidly secured by its one end, a set of weights, a rest of an elastic material, for example of rubber, self-fixing on the flexible rod, and tightening braces. Vertical guides are mounted on the base; a crosspiece is mounted with a sliding fit on the vertical guides, the crosspiece has a joint articulation support in the form of two movable jaws with pressure screws and pointed edges. The instrument has a locking screw, capable to fix the crosspiece at any position along a height of vertical guides. The instrument also has a unit for simulating portions of increased or absolute rigidity of the rod, being in the form of a removable slider to be mounted on the deformable rod by a close-type fit with possibility of motion.
