FIELD: domestic heating devices. SUBSTANCE: electric iron uses working foot 1, flat resistive heating element 2 in the form of current blanket made of foil of thermosplitted graphite located between two flat electric insulators 3. When voltage is applied the current blanket of element 2 gets heated and transfers heat through the layer of electric insulator 3 to foot 1 and screening plate 4, serving at the same time as a heat accumulator. The current lead is attached to the respective platforms of element 2 through thoriated springs. EFFECT: simplified fabrication practice and enhanced maintainability. 3 dwg
