FIELD: drawing production. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of placing a cylindrical blank with a cone sharpened portion on its front part to a die; drawing the blank with use of a mandrel for forming an inner cavity in the blank. An inlet cone of the blank is by (1-10) degrees less, than an inlet cone of the die. A drawing process is being performed with constant increase of deformation degree and mandrel load, mounted with possibility of rotation and self-centering due to elasticity of its stem. An apparatus for performing the method includes a drive unit for moving the die and a piston-type mechanism for axial motion of the mandrel, being mounted in a rod with its stem, rested upon bearing assemblies. The mandrel is spring-loaded and has a limiter of its axial motion. EFFECT: enhanced quality of inner stepped surface of tubes. 2 cl, 1 dwg
