SUBSTANCE: method involves crosswise flow of gas about circular cylinder continuously rotated about its longitudinal axis, mounting of part sensible to gas current velocity on cylinder surface, recording of two points on cylinder surface where local velocity equals zero upon arrival of signal from sensing element, maintenance of permanent annular interval between these points by regulating angular velocity of rotating cylinder; gas current velocity of interest is determined by angular velocity of rotation drive.
