FIELD: electromechanical engineering; air gap measurement in liquid- filled electrical machine as bearings wear down. SUBSTANCE: method for measuring air gap in liquid-filled electrical machine that has stator, rotor, end shields, seal, expansion device incorporating diaphragm held in position by means of perforated cover involves filling space formed by diaphragm and this cover with liquid introduces through hole in cover, closing hole with plug, and connecting transparent vessel to hole in bottom part of frame; then plug in top part of frame is opened and liquid level is checked by means of transparent vessel to determine liquid volume from level crossing symmetry axis and down to inner bore of stator before and after operation; difference in volumes of liquid is used to determine new value of air gap. EFFECT: provision for in-service measurement of air gap without machine disassembly. 3 dwg
