METHOD FOR PACKING RADIOWASTES AND IMPREGNATING COMPOUND FOR CONTAINER SURFACE TREATMENT Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

Abstract RU 2062520 C1

FIELD: packing of radiowastes for their further burial. SUBSTANCE: container for packing radiowastes is made of latex-cement compound by introducing punch heated to 80-90 C into compound poured into mold, holding it there for 0.3-7 h, its removal, and keeping molded container there for 20-48 h to allow compound curing. After that, polymer-containing coat is formed on inner surface of container. To this end, inner surface is treated with impregnating compound for 0.5-4 h. Impregnating compound has the following composition, mass percent: type TGM-3 oligoethercrylate - 96-98.7; initiating polymerizing agent (benzoyl peroxide) - 1-2; polymerization promoter (cobalt naphthenate) - 0.3-2. Radiowaste mixture with cement binder, which is usually latex-cement compound, is charged below edge to cover depth, then mixture is compressed by vibration action, container cover is formed by introducing latex- cement compound into container and the latter is held together with mixture for 20-48 h. Container cover is sealed by potting it in flow-through compound and held for 0.5-4 h. EFFECT: improved water-tightness of container. 2 cl
