TANDEM BICYCLE Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

FIELD: bicycle engineering; bicycle convertible into tandem; velomobiles, motorcycles. SUBSTANCE: tandem bicycle has base bicycle and at least one attachment bicycle connected to base one by means of clamps and brackets. Used as base bicycle and attachment bicycle are single-seat bicycle with detachable chain fork, with attachment bicycle being installed in front of base bicycle. Supporting flat members welded to frame tubes are installed in axial section of frame plane in tube connection units. Clamps of seat tube unit of attachment bicycle and front tube unit of base bicycle are made in form of holders split in bicycle attachment plane and clamped together by screws. Holder encloses tubes of connected units and fixes plane of frames axial section relative to surfaces of support flat members. Bracket connecting bottom bracket units is made in form of tubular rod which also fixes frame plane relative to flat support members on attachment bicycle bottom bracket and relative to connecting pin arranged on front generating surface of base bicycle bottom bracket.
