FIELD: foundry. SUBSTANCE: method involves introducing bucket charge of 0.003-0.006% by weight of cladded ultradispersed silicon carbide powder into liquid iron, with powder particle size of 0.01-1.0 micron; introducing 0.006-0.012% by weight of pelletized mixture of ultradispersed silicon carbide powder and cast iron chips into casting mold, with ratio of components 1: (0.7-1.2). EFFECT: increased efficiency by eliminated process of washing casting mold, reduced modifier consumption, improved mechanical properties of roll neck.
