SUBSTANCE: alkaline agent is added to by-side product of acetic acid production obtained by acetaldehyde oxidation up to the weight ratio of the formed sodium or calcium salts of formic and acetic acids to free acetic acid = (3-7):1. Alkaline agent is sodium hydroxide, or sodium hydrocarbonate, or calcium oxide, or calcium hydroxide, or calcium carbonate. EFFECT: improved method of producing.
