FIELD: gas purification. SUBSTANCE: invention mainly focuses on cleaning sulfur dioxide in sulfuric acid production. Method is performed by introducing baking sulfur dioxide for two first washing steps in washing apparatus followed by isolation of sulfuric acid mist formed in electric filters. In the first washing step, 50-150 g of sulfuric acid solution per 1 cu. m of gas to be washed is dispersed by agency, for example, of compressed air in noncooled baking gas to required dispersity providing cooling of gas being washed to 90-150 C and withdrawal of washing acid into collector. EFFECT: reduced formation of fine-dispersity acid mist and simplified process flowsheet because of eliminating pumps in the first washing step.
