FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology; assessment of binocular vision integrality. SUBSTANCE: Patient is caused to wear spectacles having color filters, and colored anaglyphs are produced to patient at distance 5 m. Judging by patient's responses, conclusion is drawn on vision nature. Inventive novelty of proposed method resides in fact that not single, but nine groups of colored anaglyphs are offered to patient. Anaglyphs thus-demonstrated have progressively decreasing size within range from 0.08 to 1.0 in agreement with universally accepted vision acuity gradation scale. Minimum-size group of anaglyphs discriminable by binocular vision is accepted as criterion characterizing binocular vision extent (depth). Present method offers double advantage: on one hand, it permits to quantitatively assess contribution of each eye to binocular cooperation and to differentiate these contributions, and, on other hand, it opens up vistas to control more closely, from pathophysiological point of view, course of clinical treatment of binocular vision disorders. EFFECT: complicated cases of binocular vision disorders become within reach of any practitioner under clinical conditions.
