GEL-LIKE CONTACT MEDIUM FOR ULTRASOUND DIAGNOSIS AND ULTRASOUND THERAPY Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: medicine; ultrasound diagnosis; ultrasound therapy. SUBSTANCE: proposed contact medium in form if gel comprises loosely cross-linked acrylic acid polymer in amount 0.2-0.9 wt.%, polyatomic alcohol in amount 0.5-10.0 wt.%, 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol and/or n-hydroxybenzoic acid ethers and aliphatic alcohol ethers in amount 0.01-0.06 wt.%, water 87-98 wt. %, and neutralizing agent in amount sufficient to adjust pH at 6-8. Proposed contact medium possesses good viscosity properties, it is not dried up on patient's skin for up to 20 min, and if features very low attenuation of ultrasonic waves (up to 0.06 dB/cm).
