FIELD: measurement technology; angle measurements in astronomical instruments. SUBSTANCE: introduced in converter that has code element, four sensing elements, four comparators, eight AND gates, six flip-flops, pulse generator, computing unit, counter, two counting decoders, two character indicators, and triggering unit are four AND gates, eight OR gates, four NOT gates, presetting counter, second counter, and two decoders. Within one revolution of code element, converter gives coarse readings and within several next revolutions, fine readings submitted as many times as there are bars on bar track of code element, whereupon computer unit averages fine measurement results. Angle being measured is computer as sum of fine and coarse reading angles. EFFECT: reduced error in conversion. 7 dwg
