FIELD: chemical technology, organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: product: water-soluble poly-N, N,N,N-trimethylmethacryloylhydroxyethyl ammonium methylsulfate. Method involves dissolving the monomer - N,N,N,N-trimethylmethacryloylhydroxyethyl ammonium methylsulfate in an aqueous solution of highly volatile organic solvent containing acetate buffer, pH = 4.5-5.5, at the following ratio of components, mas. p. p.: monomer, 1.0; sodium acetate, 0.001-0.005; acetic acid, 0.0016-0.06; water, 0.06-0.43; highly volatile organic solvent, 0.06-0.33 at ratio water : solvent = 1:(0.5-2.0). Oxygen is removed from the solvent at the room temperature. Polymerization is carried out by heating at 35-60 C. Water-soluble highly volatile organic solvent is taken from the order containing acetone, methanol, ethanol, propanol-2, dioxane. The obtained gel is milled and dried.
