FIELD: sewing industry. SUBSTANCE: rod is made from needle of sewing machine. Lower part of rod has working rough surface formed by notching or breaking off sharpened end of needle. Working surface has two projections with facets or minifacets made by notching, with each facet or minifacet having individual characteristics. Versions of working surfaces used for forming relief by drawing up, mini-drawing or forming thread of web are recited in Specifications. Rod allows pile formation to be increased by rotating rod along "orienting circle" for an angle of 45 to 225 deg. EFFECT: increased efficiency and improved quality of fabric. 17 cl, 5 dwg
