FIELD: railway transport; maintenance and repair of permanent way. SUBSTANCE: hydraulic system has power cylinder to drive working member into ballast, tank with working liquid, pump, three-position four-line hydraulic distributor connected by two lines to spaces of power cylinder and by third line to pump, two two-position hydraulic distributors with hydraulic control system, and pressure valve. One two-position hydraulic distributor is connected to fourth line of four-line hydraulic distributor which is connected with rod space of power cylinder through one hydraulic distributor mentioned above in its second position. Hydraulic control space of second two-position hydraulic distributor is connected with piston space of power cylinder. Input of pressure valve is connected with rod space of power cylinder, and output is connected to hydraulic control space of above-indicated one two-position hydraulic distributor and to input of second two-position hydraulic distributor connected with return line in one of positions of second hydraulic distributor. Compacting of ballast layer by means of tie-tamping working member controlled by such system provides required compactness of ballast, uniform over length of treated section of track. EFFECT: improved compactness of ballast base. 2 cl, 1 dwg
