FIELD: manufacture of vertical take-off and landing flying vehicles. SUBSTANCE: method consists in stopping the main rotor made according to single-blade configuration with mass balance weight and retracting it; to this end, blades are placed in feathered pitch followed by approaching the blades to fuselage till main rotor forms common aerodynamic lines together with fuselage surface. Combined vertical take-off and landing rotary-wing aircraft includes fuselage, main rotor made in form of one blade connected with mass balance weight by means of flapping hinge, rotor braking and retracting mechanism provided with stop for locking the blade in feathered pitch. Main rotor retracting mechanism is made for turning the blade and mass balance weight around axis of flapping hinge and ensuring engagement of main rotor with fuselage surface forming common aerodynamic lines.
