FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: on the mating surface of one of parts to be joined are projections made up as inserts set in preliminary drilled openings with interference. The surfaces of the inserts that projects out of the opening are machined to provide maximum interference between the corresponding surfaces of the projection and second part to be joined. The parts are then allowed to be spaced, brought to each other, and the space is eliminated. The axes of the openings for the inserts and longitudinal axis of the parts to be joined may be in one or intersecting planes. The inserts and the parts may be made of materials of different linear expansion coefficients. The rigidity of the projecting portions of the inserts may be higher than that of the surface of the part to be mated as well as the inserts may be provided with grooves and hollows on the projecting end face side.
