FIELD: removal of oil from water surface. SUBSTANCE: sorbent contains fibrous cellulose material: batting, industrial wool, or textile production waste coated by styrene-butadiene block copolymer with styrene content from 10 to 50 wt % and at block copolymer to cellulose material weight ratio (2-1): (90-98). Sorbent can also be applied on oil polluted soils. EFFECT: increased sorption capacity.
