FIELD: petroleum processing. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to diesel fuels from petroleum straight-run products. In preliminary distillation process, the following fractions are tapped off: kerosene fraction with 96% of it boiling away below 250 C; light atmosphere gas oil with 96% of it boiling away below 320 C; and heavy atmosphere gas oil with 96% of it boiling away below 360 C. Basic fuel is obtained by compounding above- mentioned fractions at ratio from 3:8:1 to 2:12:1 and then supplemented with 0.01-0.1 % of depressor additive - ethylene-vinyl acetate (ratio from 0.2:1 to 12:1) copolymer with molecular weight 1•102-60•104 in the form of 10-50% solution in organic solvent. EFFECT: increased yield of diesel fuel, improved low-temperature characteristics and cetane ratio, and reduced cost due to restricted use of aeroengine kerosene. 2 tbl
