FIELD: petroleum processing and petrochemistry. SUBSTANCE: gasoline additive is provided based on diethyldicyclopentadienyliron with 1-99.5 wt % of dicyclopentadienyliron and, optionally, aromatic amine or hydrocarbon fraction boiling away within 100-360 C as well as detergent additive. Fuel composition is provided containing gasoline and 0.005-0.06 wt % of claimed additive. EFFECT: improved anti-knock and detergent properties of gasolines, reduced toxicity of exhausted gases, and increased efficiency and reliability of internal combustion engine operation. 7 cl, 2 tbl
