FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involves collecting whiteflies by providing contact between insects and surfactant such as 0.4-1.0% aqueous solution of sodium salts of alkyl-aromatic sulfonic acids of formula: C_nH_2n+1ArSO₃Na, where n = 8-14, Ar is aromatic hydrocarbon remains connected with functional group by carbon nucleus atom or 0.3-0.5% aqueous solutions of monoalkylphenylic esters of polyethylene glycol based on polymeric distiller of formula: C_nH_2n+1C₆H₄O(C₂H₄O)_mH,, where n = 8-10, M=6-12. Apparatus has container for surfactant aqueous solution. Container is mounted on hollow carrier frame hitched to tractor and connected with frame ends by branch pipes. Frame has devices arranged in spaced relation, with space being equal to plant interrow width, and adapted for swelling and catching of whiteflies. Each mentioned device has perforated main pipe communicated with hollow carrier frame and perforated regulating pipe adjoining main perforated pipe. Main perforated pipe is enclosed into moisture-absorbing material, which pulls away carcass fixed on main pipe. Inner surface of carcass is provided with flexible members directed into brushes and adapted for swelling whiteflies.
