FIELD: waste water treatment. SUBSTANCE: when performing posttreatment of waste water to remove heavy metal ions in electrochemical industry, metallurgy, and mechanical engineering, waste water is filtered through a sorbent bed, wherein sorbent is manganese(III,IV) oxides immobilized via precipitation from potassium permanganate solutions into nitron fiber matrix, nitron fiber being preliminarily saponified by 5% KOH solution, dried, and exposed to gamma-emission in dose 2.58 x 10-3 Kl/kg. Sorption is conducted at waste water pH 6.5-8.5. EFFECT: increased sorption capacity. 1 tbl
