FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: this is used for extracting minerals. Skimmer unit has skimmer proper with cutting heads mounted on endless conveyor. At side of work face, mounted on conveyor is toothed rack. Located between cutting heads is cutting-in device made in the form of shaft installed inside body on bearings. Fastened at one end of shaft is disk with cutters, and fastened at other end is gear wheel for interaction with toothed rack. Cutting-in device can be installed at angle in relation to foot of mineral seam. It can also be adapted for displacement relative to seam foot. EFFECT: high efficiency. 2 cl, 5 dwg
